We use the term "album" to describe products with thick, rigid, pages. We use "books" to describe products with thinner, flexible pages, such as a fine coffee table picture book from a bookstore. Our albums and books fall loosely into two design styles, matted and magazine. With a matted album the album page is constructed from a solid mat board, and photos are mounted in openings cut into the mats. With the magazine style, pictures are printed on the actual page just as they would be in a magazine. The magazine style allow the most creativity; we can add color, text and other graphic elements to the page. All albums (except the Flush Mount album) include three rounds of revision at no extra charge. If you need more revision, extra rounds are available at an hourly rate. Images captured in color can be converted to black and white or sepia-toned. Many of our product lines also allow photos to be used on the cover. Queensberry can cut whatever size, shape or arrangement of mat openings we can imagine, which means we can plan the page around the photos, instead of trying to fit photos into a limited number of mat options. Queensberry matted albums come in traditional (single mat) and pagemount (double mat) styles. The album shown above is made in the pagemount (double mat) style with a white outer mat and a navy inner mat. A magazine-style album is designed much like a magazine; we start with blank pages and few restrictions. Not having to worry about fitting photos into mats gives us incredible design flexibility; we can run photos all the way to the edge of the page, across the center of the page, and we can add color, type and other graphic elements to the page. Album Crafters' magazine-style albums are made with real photographic paper. The entire page is output as a single photographic print, then Album Crafters mounts prints to rigid boards and binds the boards together to make the album. This yields thick pages like those used in a child's first picture book. Album Crafters offers leather, silk and full photo covers. Albumcrafters 10x14 albums start at 20 pages/60 images; additional pages can be added in pairs. Click here to see more photos of Album Crafters' magazine-style albums. Visonart
is a magazine style book. This means we use the magazine style
to design the pages, but the pages are then assembled without thick mounting
boards in between, resulting in a lighter-weight, thinner and--most important--more
affordable The most recent addition to our album line-up is our photo journal from Jonesbook. Jonesbook is a magazine style book, with thin pages like you might find in a fine coffee table picture book. When we added Jonesbook to our line-up, every other product
we carried started with roughly 60 images. Many couples found it challenging
to narrow down their choices to 60 images when we had delivered roughly
a thousand images from their wedding, so we looked for an album or book
product that would allow couples use many more photos. Jonesbook is a perfect fit for this need, so we introduced Jonesbook at 60 pages/100 images. Additional pages can be added in multiples of four. With 60 pages to work with, not only can we use many more images than in our other products, but we also can run the individual pictures much larger than we do in any other products. Our typical Jonesbook photo journal will have four to six double-page spreads (a photo that completely fills two pages) and a dozen or more full-page photos. Our vision for the Jonesbook is to use photos as large as possible so that they can be enjoyed. On the other hand, our Jonesbook photo journals tend to not have colored pages or extensive graphic elements. Instead, the book is all about the pictures. When we first began offering albums, we carried only Queensberry, which to this day is still our most expensive line. Parents often wanted albums of their own, and many were not content to get exact copies of the couple's album, but wanted us to design a unique album for them. Some parents were put off by the expense of commissioning their own Queensberry album and this is where the Flush Mount album came in. Design time is the biggest single expense in making albums,
so we thought if we could transfer design responsibilities to the client,
that would drastically cut the expense. We created a selection of templates
clients could use to design their own albums and introduced The Flush
Mount album as a product with a do-it-yourself element. Click here

& white, or sepia), and swatches for Premium covers. Click here

and border options to demonstrate the variety possible.(Scroll down to

at actual size.)
Exact copies of any album or book are available at discounted prices. We can also make copies of some magazine style albums and books at reduced sizes or in a less expensive line. Also, because the magazine-style album is designed digitally, you can get copies of the album on CD to circulate to out-of-state relatives or friends, which avoids wear and tear on your actual book. If you are interested in copies--for yourself or for parents--please ask us about the options. |
